Pam And A Bucket will now be joining Cleaning for a Reason
A recent report has shown that an estimated 7.6 million people die of cancer with more than 12 million more finding out they have cancer every year. It is one of the most devastating illnesses that exists today. As any cancer sufferer or family member of someone with cancer will tell you the treatments can be harsh and the illness is brutal. Coping with cancer is incredibly difficult and the disease touches every part of our lives. Simple tasks for things such as going shopping, eating, washing clothes or cleaning the house becomes what feels like insurmountable struggles. Caretakers for cancer patients struggle as well, families are already busy these days, throw in illness and you have a recipe for disaster. It takes a village of support for someone with a debilitating disease, There is, however, help… Debbie Sardone and her wonderful creation, Cleaning for a Reason. What is cleaning for a reason?
In 2005 Debbie Sardone shared her vision of a world where women suffering from all forms of cancer could keep their houses clean and tidy without having to do the cleaning themselves or worry about the cost. In 2006 this became a reality with the setup of a non-profit organization called Cleaning for a Reason. Debbie remembers clearly receiving a call from one of her prospective clients stating that since she was going to be undergoing expensive cancer treatments she could no longer afford to use the services of Debbie’s cleaning company, Buckets & Bows Maid Service. The woman, unfortunately, hung up before Debbie could respond but it was there and then that she decided that no woman undergoing cancer treatment would ever be turned away from using her business. In fact, she decided there and then that any woman finding herself in this terrible situation would receive her services for free. Later Debbie would share her story with other maid services at a cleaning convention stating that women who were facing the emotional and physical struggle and financial burdens of expensive treatment were exactly the people who needed their services most and for free. Immediately there was a rush of support for Debbie’s idea and Cleaning For A Reason sprung into life. Since 2006, 1200 maid services across America and Canada have donated their time to clean over 28,000 women’s homes totaling over $8 million dollars in house cleaning services. With such a worthwhile cause these figures will only continue to grow. Pam And A Bucket is joining the cause and we hope our efforts help improve the lives of many more people especially those suffering from cancer. So how do cancer patients sign up?
The service provided by maid services through Cleaning for a Reason gives two general house cleanings for two consecutive months. However, it needs to be noted that there may not always be a maid service available in certain areas. Applications for this wonderful service are made via Cleaning For A Reasons website. They also take applications from nominees so if someone you know is suffering from cancer that will benefit from this service there is an application form for you too. Our Goal
At Pam And A Bucket we are dedicating ourselves to this cause, our goal is to reach a 10-year milestone of cleaning for cancer patients. Like everything we do, the bare minimum won’t cut it, that’s why we are seeking volunteers in West Michigan communities to come lend a hand so that we can achieve a higher volume of home cleanings done. We will supply all equipment and cleaning supplies necessary, and if you are available for a couple hours a month we can add you to our list of contacts whenever someone needs us. Our marketing material for Cleaning for a Reason may pop up in local groups you know or belong too. We will be slowly implementing a plan to reach as many people necessary to help volunteer and make cancer patients aware of the opportunity. If you know someone who could help out for at least 2 hours a month don’t hesitate to let us know! Reach us by:- Phone: 616-516-4481
